November 6-8: (11/03/09): 09-45: Two by Kern.  “Music in the the Air” and “The Cat and the Fiddle”.

November 13-15: (11/10/09): 09-46: The Johnny Mercer Centennial.  Johnny Mercer was born a century ago, in November, 1909.  This week we celebrate his life and lyrics.

November 20-22: (11/17/09): 09-47: “The Wizard of Oz”.  Seventy Years old and still young.

November 27-29: (11/24/09): 09-48: Stereotypes.  The theater depends on stereotypes, sometimes using them, sometimes working against them.  This week Broadway Revisited offers several case studies.

December 4-6: (12/1/09): 09-49: New Fall Paper and Plastic.  The season’s new records, books, and videos.

December 11-13: (12/8/09): 09-50: Jo Stafford and Bing Crosby. Sing Broadway and Hollywood.

December 18-20: (12/15/09): 09-51: “A Little Night Music”.  Back on Broadway for the first time.

December 25-27: (12/22/09): 09-52: An Audio Christmas Card.  An eclectic collection of seasonal songs.

January 1-3: (12/29/09): 09-53: Hopes for the New Year.   An assortment of songs about the future.

January 8-10: (01/05/10): 10-02: Gilbert & Sullivan.  Selections from “Pinafore”, “The Pirates of Penzance”, and The Mikado”.

January 15-17: (01/12/10): 10-03: “Finian’s Rainbow”.  The Yip Harburg and Burton Lane classic is back on Broadway.  We’ll hear the original 1947 cast.

January 22-24: (01/19/10): 10-04: Jerome Kern in Hollywood.  Kern classics with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Dorothy Fields, and Oscar Hammerstein.

January 29-31: (01/26/10): 10-05: Peggy Lee and Bing Crosby on the Radio.  Show tunes recorded just for radio play. 

February 5-7: (02/2/10): 10-06: “Bye Bye Birdie”.  Another of this season’s Broadway revivals.  We’ll hear the original 1960 cast.

February 12-14: (02/9/10): 10-07: My Funny Valentine.   Tender songs and comic Valentines for the Valentine weekend.

February 19-21: (02/16/10): 10-08: Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman play Broadway.  With excellent vocalists.

February 26-28: (02/23/10): 10-09: The Winter’s New Paper and Plastic.  The season’s new books, records, and videos.  

March 4-7: (03/02/10): 10-10: Rock Musicals.  The new music on stage and screen.

March 11-14: (03/09/10): 10-11: Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald Live— but mostly not together.  Concerts in Australia and Hollywood.

Spring Funder: Some of My Favorite Things. When asked to pick favorites, instead of top ten lists, I paraphrase that Yip Harburg-Burton Lane song with “When I don’t hear the music I like, I like the music I hear.”  Today we’ll hear an assortment of songs I like.

March 18-21: (03/16/10): 10-12: Spring Is Here. The calendar says “spring”, so this week Broadway Revisited welcomes the season with an assortment of songs about April, May, and June from Rodgers & Hart, Tom Lehrer, William Shakespeare, Sigmund Romberg and other authorities.  Swing into Spring on Broadway Revisited.

March 25-28: (03/23/10): 10-13: “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”.  “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” is the feature on this week’s Broadway Revisited, with songs from the musical, and Carol Channing reading from “Lorelei’s Diary”, bracketed with a review of Channing’s career.

April 2-4: (03/30/10): 10-14: The Musicals of Mel Brooks.  A real producer, who also writes the words and music..

April 9-11: (04/6/10): 10-15: April in Paris. A travelogue of the City of Light

April 21 is the hundredth anniversary of the death of Mark Twain, and we recognize it with a program blending his diaries of Adam and Eve with the Broadway musical version, The Apple Tree.

April 16-18: (04/13/10): 10-16: Adam and Eve and “The Apple Tree”.  A blend of readings from Mark Twain’s Diaries of Adam and Eve with songs from the Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick musical version.

April 23-25: (04/20/10): 10-17: Susannah McCorkle and Woody Herman.  Broadway in a mellow mood.

April 30-May 1-2: (04/27/10): 10-18: “My One and Only”.Tommy Tune, Twiggy, and the Gershwins.

May 7-9: (05/4/10): 10-19: Jimmy Van Heusen and the lyrics of Sammy Cahn and Johnny Burke.

May 14-16: (05/11/10): 10-20: Remembering Jerry Orbach.  From “The Threepenny Opera” to 42nd Street”.     

May 21-23: (05/18/10): 10-21: “The Boys from Syracuse”.  From Plautus to Shakespeare to Rodgers & Hart. 

May 28-30: (05/25/10): 10-22: The Spring’s New Plastic.  The season’s new records and videos.
